Access to SWoS Uni Edition is free for students at Macquarie University via Student Wellbeing. Otherwise, the Emotional Health Clinic, in the Lifespan Health and Wellbeing Research Centre located at Macquarie University, can offer access to the face-to-face or telehealth version of the standard Study without Stress program For more information, please visit the website here, Lifespan Health and Wellbeing, or phone 02 9850 8711.

Students are taught a range of skills to help them manage stress. Skills are presented and discussed in each session, and students will be expected to practice these skills by applying them to their own life to get the most out of the course. The program has 7 modules with activity sheets to complete during each session as well as at home between sessions.

The program covers the following topics:

  • Education about stress (causes, symptoms, role of stress)
  • Managing exam expectations and beliefs
  • Creating effective timetables
  • Learning how thoughts can affect academic performance
  • Challenging negative or unhelpful thinking patterns
  • Understanding perfectionism and procrastination
  • Tips to deal with study avoidance
  • Procedures for problem solving
  • Exam preparation
